Stewards Duties –

  • Your safety and enjoyment is our prime concern. Please follow our guidance for the best user experience. Do not put yourself at risk at anytime.
  • Please allow yourself plenty of time to walk to your location. We are politely asking for your age groups as this will help us plan for those less agile to be located closer to the Attelage Arena.
  • Dress code – Road Marshals: Please dress appropriately for the weather and smart casual including sensible footwear – no open toed shoes. All marshals will be issued with Tabards to help competitors and members of the public identify you.
  • Dress code – Attelage Officials and Ring Stewards: Please dress appropriately for the weather and smart formal including hats.
  • Our participants have been invited for the quality and competancy of their turnout so you should be assured of their capability and experience.
  • The competitors will start by being judged one at a time in the Attelage arena starting at 10.30am After the first one has been judged, they will follow on a short 1.5mile road drive through the park to the main Palace Arena in front of House. Carriages will be advised to walk along this route, and proceed with caution through the Palace Gardens.
  • As the competitors travel through the park, they will share the route with members of the public attending the horse trials and visiting the Palace Arena.
  • Our volunteer stewards will be required to marshal this route and positioned in regular intervals. There will be signage in the public carparks advising the general public of carriages along the route.
  • The main role for our stewards is to advise members of the public of oncoming carriages. Stewards will be issued whistles to alert the public and follow up with polite message such as “stand aside please”, “Carriages coming” and “thank you”. Please remember to be polite and friendly at all times.
  • In certain high traffic areas, Stewards will be asked to remove any horse droppings off the route. We will provide cleaning equipment in these key areas.
  • With 15 turnouts taking part, they will pass every 5 minutes for 70 minutes up towards the main arena. They will be expected to remain in the collecting ring until the Palace Arena display and awards has been completed. On completion, they will then travel back in convoy to the Attelage Arena where  our Stewards will need to repeat their duties.
  • For any enquiries, you can call Lester Dagge – 07858501427 or Julie Elliott – 07768 348123
